There is no one route into aquaculture. The Animal Health team comes from a variety of experiences and backgrounds but is united by a mission to drive sustainability in aquaculture. We sat down with some of the team to ask why they decided to pursue a career with Benchmark, and what they enjoy most about their work.

Joining Benchmark in launching the salmon industry’s first new medicinal sea lice treatment in over a decade has been and continues to be an exciting and knowledge-giving experience. Being a part of Benchmark means I get to work with people who always aim to drive forward sustainable and innovative solutions in the aquaculture industry, and I am proud to be part of a company that has such great values. As this is my first position on land, what I enjoy most is the opportunity to work closely with the wellboats in the field, bringing me the best of two worlds.

I joined Benchmark ten years ago, when the office first opened in Portland, Maine. It continues to be inspiring to work with a great group of people that are so dedicated to serving customers and driving sustainability to help feed the world. I am responsible for the finances at Animal Health USA, as well as filling our Canadian customer orders of Salmosan^® Vet. I truly enjoy working to ensure their orders arrive in a timely manner. My days are never the same, they are always filled with new and different opportunities – I am always learning!

When I joined Benchmark Animal Health, I felt both excited and proud to be part of an industry that is very important for Norway. A key part of my role which I enjoy is in working with products that take animal welfare and environmental protection to a new level. Benchmark has been championing innovation, to bring sustainable solutions to the market, and it has been so interesting to watch the teamwork toward these goals. When I joined Benchmark, I quickly realized that I was joining a company that values individuality. The Benchmark team is welcoming, friendly, hardworking, and has enormous knowledge and expertise. Being from a village in the Scottish Highlands, aquaculture played a massive part in my life. It was a source of jobs and funding for the full community. I am proud to be part of the Benchmark Animal Health team, having the opportunity to positively impact the aquaculture industry and work alongside passionate and innovative people. The best part of my job is the wide variety of valuable projects I get involved in, making tangible contributions to the business. Every day presents a new challenge where being in such a solution-focused and supportive culture encourages my own learning.
